Review: MUD – FIM Motocross World Championship (PS3)

MUD – FIM Motocross World Championship (MUD) is the most comprehensive videogame rendition of the sport that’s ever been delivered to its fans.

All three of the official circuits (MX1, MX2 and MXoN) are featured here, with each competition offering not only its authentic rosters, but impressively, its tracks as well: 84 riders, 32 teams, 16 nations and every single track from every circuit are all packed onto this one single disc – not to mention a truckload of licenses from the likes of Monster Energy, Rockstar, Kawasaki, Honda, KTM and many more. Most anything that fans could possibly ask for is all packed into this one title. Or is it? [Review Score: 3/5]

Review: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (PS3)

In our original Ni No Kuni review, our Editor-in-Chief, Matt Sainsbury, awarded the title a perfect score in his glowing review. The intention of this second opinion review isn’t to criticise the game or the differences in our opinions of it, but to share the experience from another perspective. Just like in life itself, it’s the little things within Ni No Kuni that matter the most and it’s an experience that will never leave me for the rest of my days.

Throughout the history of gaming, each year we have a few standout titles that achieve greatness. Every so often though, there are those certain few titles that rise above greatness – into the realms of masterpieces; timeless classics that are cherished and loved by the majorities. While it’s subjective and depends on the genre that these titles fall into, for RPG’s, these are the likes of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts. These games excel in nearly every manner and are blended with memorable characters and grandiose storylines, even though they’re different in certain aspects. These are the games that I cherish – games that continue to live on in my memory.  [Review Score: 5/5]

Review: Sela the Space Pirate (iPad)

sela-artwork01
Arrr! This game is tougher than pirate’s pegged leg matey.

Sela the Space Pirate is a punk. I mean this not only in a nice way, but in a literal sense as well. She’s the epitome of what it is to be “steampunk.” Err… just without the “steam,” that is. Anyway, if you’re up for a fun little iOS bullet hell shoot ‘em up that’s tough as nails and has a wacky sense of style, then look no further than Sela the Space Pirate. [Review Score: 4/5]

Feature: Some thoughts on… what else, the PS4

Chris:

My thoughts on Sony’s conference are positive. I had no idea how advantageous the acquisition of Gaikai would be to the PS4, but as someone who doesn’t care much for ‘social’ gaming aspects, I’m intrigued to give the many unique features that will be available on the PS4 a try. Many complaints about the conference being “boring” scattered throughout the Twitter-sphere constantly during the conference, but I found Sony’s business-like approach to be interesting, professional and carefully calculated. Sony made it clear that it’s extremely powerful PS4 was developed by developers, for developers – an absolute plus for the upcoming console. As “gamers,” it’s easy to simply focus on the games throughout these showings, but this news was probably the most important of the entire conference, because it was blatantly clear that not only are developers already working on the console – they want to work on it. The PlayStation 4 will be supported by developers!
